「北美 RDA 委員會 (North American RDA Committee, NARDAC) 更新論壇」的目的，在於匯集圖書館和資訊科學領域專家，共同介紹及討論 RDA、以及分享和 RDA 相關之編目工作的發展。

將於 2025 年 4 月 14 日下午 2 時（臺北時間為 4 月 15 日上午 3 時）舉辦的「北美 RDA 委員會春季更新論壇」，主要介紹 RSC 工作小組目前的工作與未來的計畫。

本次論壇除了介紹 NARDAC 的工作進度之外，也將邀請紐西蘭國家圖書館 (National Library of New Zealand, NLNZ) 的 Charlotte Christensen 進行演講，討論 NLNZ 官方 RDA 實施的實際情況及一些 RDA 元素實際編目的演練。

The Library of Congress Genre/Form Terms for Library and Archival Materials (LCGFT) thesaurus includes a robust set of headings for cartographic resources, which were among the earliest areas of focus during LCGFT’s development. The first cartographic headings were approved for the thesaurus in 2010, as part of a cartography-specific project undertaken in consultation with the Library of Congress Geography and Map Division. Following that initial burst of activity, the suite of available terms for describing cartographic resources has been largely stable until recently, with the addition of a small number of new cartographic headings beginning circa 2023. In this report, I will share some observations on the application of LCGFT in my library’s catalog, including discussion of successes and challenges, drawn from my first ten years as a map cataloger at Michigan State University.

As the primary cataloging content standard in the US, Resource Description and Access (RDA) should equitably serve the broad diversity of people engaged in cataloging work. This article reports on a survey of catalogers in North Carolina conducted to better understand barriers to using RDA generally and perspectives about the transition from original RDA to official RDA specifically. The results of the survey suggest that catalogers have struggled with the transition to official RDA, but that some catalogers have encountered fewer challenges due to privileged access to resources. This article offers suggestions for making RDA more accessible to more catalogers.
