    適用於 LIS 課堂的 RDA 教學簡報範本

    RDA 教育與指導官員且為多倫多大學教師 Elisa Sze,建立及分享 RDA Toolkit 教學簡報範本,包括向學習者介紹 RDA 的框架、簡單易懂的解釋、可自訂的範例及有用資訊的連結,提供圖資系所及圖書館同道免費線上存取和使用。

     

    此範本係依據「創用 CC 署名-相同方式共享 4.0」 (CC BY-SA 4.0) 授權條款提供,只要使用者對範本表示認可,即可複製、重新散佈、重新混合、轉換、建構、翻譯或改編此範本的內容,以滿足特定教學或訓練需求。使用者可以以任何合理的方式使用範本,但不得以暗示 RDA 指導委員會 (RDA Steering Committee, RSC) 認可使用者引入的變更之方式進行。並附有單獨的「大綱」(Outline),使用者可依據需求自由地從範本中新增、重新排列或提取任意數量 (指或多、或少) 的內容。範本內,若屬本地客製化 (local customization) 之內容,會以黃色底色來突顯。

    RDA in the Ghanaian academic library cataloging community : awareness, competencies, and implications

    This study investigated the awareness and competencies of Ghanaian cataloging practitioners and stakeholders regarding Resource Description and Access (RDA), a little over a decade after the standard was rolled out. Survey and interviews were combined to examine the entrenchment of the RDA standard in Ghana from the viewpoint of sixty-two cataloging managers and staff in selected academic libraries. The data analyzed though descriptive statistics and thematic content analysis revealed that while 82 percent of cataloging practitioners were aware of the RDA standard, knowledge and mastery of the RDA guidelines and application of the standard was established to be low and quite basic. Fellow catalogers within libraries, attendance at local conferences, and personal research emerged as major sources of RDA awareness. It was concluded that awareness of the RDA standard will not lead to widespread adoption and implementation of the standard.

     

    Rethinking cataloging : moving beyond macros

    This case study reveals how the technical services department at a public library reconfigured its workflow to meet the demands of a backlog in cataloging work caused by staffing shortages. One initiative involved the gradual replacement of the OCLC Connexion Client macros with MarcEdit tasks to batch edit OCLC records. Training new hires with no cataloging experience presented an opportunity to change the tools and technology used in the department. Catalogers experimented with a copy cataloging workflow that relies on searching and exporting records from the OCLC WorldShare Record Manager instead of Connexion. These initiatives proved fruitful in managing the cataloging workflow.
